2020A Technical Failure of an undulator at BL25SU

As of June 2020, one of two tandem undulators installed at BL25SU has stopped operation due to a technical failure. Since it is estimated to take 1-2 years to be fixed, please understand that experiments will be limited to the conditions below for a while:

・In case of the photoelectron spectroscopy:
The photon flux will be halved, but there will be no effect on energy resolution.

・In case of the magnet circular dichroism (MCD) spectroscopy and magnetic imaging:
“High-speed circular polarization switching system” will be no longer available and measurement time is expected to be about three times longer than before in a typical case.
In addition, high-precision experiments to obtain small signals will be impossible.

Please ask the beamline scientists for details.
